Dailuaine Old Malt Cask 2006 12yo Sherry Butt 50% 700ml

A 12-year-old Dailuaine bottled by the folks at Hunter Laing in honour of the 20th anniversary of the first Old Malt Cask bottling.

Distilled in June 2006 and bottled in July 2018. Independent bottling are the only way to try anything other than heavily-sherried Dailuaine, and this release shows a lighter side to the distillery, without losing its traditionally weighty character.

Nose: Honey, bread and butter pudding and tropical fruits lead with spicy gingerbread and cigar box wood underneath.

Palate: Apple blossom, butterscotch and barley sugars are livened by fiery cinnamon.

Finish: Brown sugar and a little sea salt.

The Distillery was founded in 1852 by William Mackenzie. When he died in 1865 his widow leased the distillery to James Fleming, a banker from Aberlour. Together with William Mackenzie's son he founded Mackenzie and Company.

Hunter Laing have been premium bottlers for three generations since Grampa Fred founded the business in 1949. Forty years later, they introduced The Old Malt Cask brand, one of the most exclusive and high-class series of single cask bottlings. It is the go-to choice of connoisseurs of Single Malt Scotches, bringing only the best Whisky from their vast stock. And now, the line celebrates its 20th birthday.
