Distilled in 1979 at the Girvan grain distillery situated near the southwest coast of Scotland, just south of Ayr. Selected and bottled from a single cask by Hunter Laing & Co. of Glasgow, this fine old grain has a classic candy/confectionary sweetness (milk chocolate, boiled candies, vanilla pudding) and plenty of ripe fruity flavours - syrupy fruit salad, blackcurrants and a lasting vibrant oakyness that brings a furniture workshop to mind. Bottled after 40 years of maturation at a natural strength of 51.2%.
Nose: Cacao, coffee and waves of caramel, then banana fritters, green apple and soft peppery hints in the backdrop.
Palate: Brown sugar, creamy vanilla and fleshy stone fruit at first with melted white chocolate and red berries underneath.
Finish: Long and sweet, with lingering dry oak spices and toasted marshmallow.
