This is the second limited edition 8 year old Cask Strength release from Kilkerran, matured in ex-bourbon casks and bottled at a natural strength of 55.7%. The aroma is classic Kilkerran - waxy, vanilla and malty notes (digestive biscuits), joined by green apples and citrus. There is a distinctive mineral quality to the palate, which carries golden syrup, salted peanuts and a gentle peat smoke flavour. The lingering finish is a balance of peat smoke, liquorice and briny flavours so common to the whiskies of Campbeltown. Kilkerran is a wonderfully old-fashioned dram with a timeless quality of being complex and characterful.
