If you seek a generously proportioned Barossan shiraz; one that retains its sense of place with just a sprinkle of contemporary flair, the 8 Songs is a good bet. It's a deep red purple in the glass, with heady aromas of black plum, cherry and blueberry, underscored by baking spice, dark chocolate and lovely French oak. Weighty with a velvety flow, fine, gypsum-like tannins and no shortage of pure horsepower on the exit. Bold yet fleshy and graceful. No mean feat! Impressive stuff.

The Master’s Collection has been inspired by significant people and moments during
Peter Lehmann’s life. Each one is unique and distinctive, just like the wines themselves.
Peter looked for inspiration in all facets of his life and had a particular love of the arts.
The Eight Songs Shiraz is named after one of his favourite musical works, ‘Eight Songs
for a Mad King’.

After reasonable winter and spring rainfall, soil moisture was adequate during the
growing season and the Barossa’s vineyards exhibited healthy canopies heading into
summer.

January and February were warm and dry, with very warm temperatures in
February slowing down the pace of ripening. Vintage really ramped up in March, with the majority of Barossa Shiraz being picked during this period.
