Scarabus Islay Single Malt Whisky by Hunter Laing 700ml
Scarabus is a new single malt whisky selected by Hunter Laing & Co. who marked the opening of their new Ardnahoe distillery on Islay.
Sourced from an undisclosed Islay distillery comes Scarabus, a single malt from Hunter Laing launched for Fèis Ìle 2019. Scarabus means ‘rocky place’ in Old Norse, named after a mystical area of Islay.
The whole expression is quite mysterious, from the secretive distillery to the golden symbols adorning the bottle. A very handsome bottling housing delicious Islay whisky.
Nose: Classic notes of maritime peat smoke, sea spray and sea salt, with a subtle hint of vanilla and oak spice.
Palate: Oak char, old leather, stewed orchard fruit and vanilla sweetness returning among the smoky peat.
Finish: Lingering bonfire smoke, salted caramel and fresh berries.
