Hampden Estate Great House Distillery Edition 2021 – After 250 years of only exporting its renowned rum in bulk to independent bottlers and merchants alike, Hampden Estate has finally produced and bottled their very own rum and it is a must-have for anyone who wants to enjoy an elegant flavor bomb of a rum that can be sipped neat or enjoyed in some amazing cocktails as as the classic Mai Tai.

Produced with unique and partly secret methods that have remained unchanged since the 18th century. The result is a rum with a distinct aromatic profile due to an extremely high level of esters.

Founded in 1779, the Great House (Habitation in French) of the Jamaican Hampden distillery served as a storage warehouse for barrels until the early 1900s. From the blend of Hampden OWH (between 80 and 120 grams of esters) distilled in 2013 (80%) and Hampden DOK (between 1500 and 1600 grams of esters) distilled in 2017 (20%), this version immerses us in an instant in the universe at the same time heady and captivating, not to say bewitching, the rums produced by this distillery, considered by the greatest experts to be the most authentic in Jamaica. Intensely medicinal, mineral and marvelous oxidative, its aromatic and gustatory palette is at the same time resplendent with fruity and floral freshness.

Hampden Estate Great House Distillery Edition 2021 as with all rums by Hampden Estate is an authentic rum with no sugar or flavouring added. Complex in structure yet silky smooth and tropical. Extremely limited release.

Tasting notes: From the first nose, the aroma  of this 2021 version of Hampden Great House generously reveals wonderfully exquisite fruity, chocolate and mentholated aromas. Refreshing and aromatic, the aromas linger with candied notes. The flavour is medicinal, camphoric and intensely spicy, highlighting above all the particularly full and heady floral tones.
