Ardnamurchan AD/09.20:01 Single Malt Scotch Whisky 700ml - Batch 01 Inaugural Release
The inaugural single malt release from the new Ardnamurchan distillery in the Highlands, which began production in 2014!
This will be an ongoing release created in small batches, with the label indicating the details of each batch.
Batch 1 is comprised of equal parts of peated and unpeated whisky which was matured in a combination of ex-bourbon (65%) and ex-sherry (35%) casks. A total of 15,950 bottles were produced. Non-chillfiltered, naturally coloured and bottled at 46.8%.
Nose: Pineapple and melon with honeycomb and waxy peel. Sponge cake and lemon curd. Flour and baking spices with bonfire embers.
Palate: Malt and digestive biscuits followed by coastal notes of oyster shells and brine. Strawberries and vanilla with Black pepper.
Finish: Long, sweet honey spiced with pepper.
Ardnamurchan currently produces both peated and unpeated spirits. As they describe it themselves, “a full flavoured malt” that represents its West Highland origin.
This single malt contains both peated and unpeated malts, matured on Bourbon as well as Sherry oak casks.
It is a nice, gentle dram with notes of greasy wax and honeycomb. It is mildly peated and floral at the same time, with hints of rose petals and peach.
