Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky
A marvellous Craigellachie single malt, matured for 14 years between April 2007 and February 2022 in a single sherry butt. The cask was opened by Hunter Laing to release an outturn of 338 bottles, independently released for its Old Malt Cask series.
Nose: Crisp green apples, vanilla fudge, and chocolate raisins, with some drying herbs in the distance.
Palate: Soft fruits with summer berries and creamy apricot, more milky chocolate, and biscuity malt follow, with bold oak char and a prickle of pepper.
Finish: The pepper builds with gentle heat towards the end along with shavings of ginger. Honeyed fruit brings sweet balance.
