Dalwhinnie 15yo 700ml
Country: Scotch Whisky
Region: Highland Whisky
Age: 15 year old Whisky
Dalwhinnie has a little bit of everything, peat, honey and backbone. A classic malt for everyone. A wholemeal and honey quality to the nose and the odd smoky tangent. A sweet, fruity core and a long round finish.
Some of Dalwhinnie's complexity is from the water, sourced from Allt an t'Sluie Burn, some is from the traditional worms and the two stills and yet I feel sure that the altitude and weather must also play their part. The young spirit is aged in Ex-Bourbon casks for 15 years before bottling.
Nose: Aromatic, toffee, fruit salad, lush nectarine, custard. Floral, apple blossom, honeysuckle. Apple peels, pear, touch of smoke.
Palate: Malty. Walnuts steeped in manuka honey with vanilla sponge. Gentle smoke weaves its way through the cereal with a touch of spice.
Finish: Long, malty, walnut, almond.
