A cask-strength Springbank 12 Year Old, released in 2020 after maturing in a combination of bourbon and sherry casks. Floral aromas of wine gums, wood chippings, candied ginger and lack liquorice fill the nose. The palate offers notes of spiced biscuits, salted caramel, salted pretzels, Iberico ham and rich smoke.
Matured in a split of ex-sherry (65%) and ex-bourbon (35%) casks, this 2020 edition of Springbank's famous 12 year old cask-strength whisky has finally arrived.
The nose has a classic foosty old warehouse aroma, joining sweet and floral notes, sweet jelly candies (green wine gums) and a woody, gingery scent.
The palate is rich, viscous and oily - spiced biscuit, salted caramel and a chewy, meaty note (ham) with a puff of Springbank peat smoke.
Finishing on Whittakers salted dark chocolate and a hint of freshly ground coffee. Unmistakably Springbank.
